Our waterfront studio, The Abode, is the place for you to experience beauty and tranquility. With Skamokawa Creek and Columbia River views and sharedbeach access, there is opportunity for riverfront walks, ship watching, kayaking, birding, fishing, reading, and reflecting. The Abode kitchenette allows you to prepare simple meals for yourself or you can grab a meal at “Duck Inn”, our local restaurant within walking distance. Other activities nearby include hiking, disc golfing, visiting the River Life Interpretive Center, Julia Butler Hansen Deer Refuge, and the historic town of Cathlamet. For more adventure, Long Beach Washington, and Astoria Oregon are approximately 45 minutes west of Skamokawa.

Location
Proceed to the end of Pleasant Point Road. You will turn left and park to the left of the main driveway at the "Abode Parking" sign. Once parked, access to The Abode requires you to walk to the left of the garage and office along the path towards the creek. Turn right at the end of the building and walk in front of The Abode. You'll then take one more right, and the door will be on your right.

Beautiful Vacation Rental
This place is a gem! It is small but beautifully laid out and decorated. The best part of our weekend was laying in bed and looking out the large picture window at the river watching the birds and wildlife. I can't wait to come back in the summer months with my grandson and kayaks!

A PERFECT CHOICE FOR US
We are return visitors to The Abode. It is a perfect size for us, and it has everything we need. The Abode is only 10 minutes away from our daughter and grandkids. The beach, and the river are a real treat.

If only you look...
When I opened the door to The Abode, I was greeted by warmth, a classy interior, and windows that brought the outside inside. It provided a most comfortable fit for the two of us and became our base as we explored Julia Butler Hansen Game Refuge, hiked the beaches, and got acquainted with nearby towns where in Cathlamet they were getting ready to have a Senior Prom for those over 55+. The wall-size front window provided excellent viewing of nature's beauty. I spotted a Red-naped Sapsucker doing its job and a Great Blue Heron who was a better fisherman than the fellow fishing nearby. Viewing from the side window it seemed like the enormous ocean going container ship was within my reach. There are so many things to see, if you only look. Lorraine and Steve, thank you for such a welcoming Abode and next time we come, I will pack my prom shoes, just in case. My husband will pack his waders, not into proms!

Restful and Rejuvenating
A perfect combination of peace and the outdoors. I loved coming to the light airiness of the Abode after a full day of kayaking and walking the beach. Eating lunch under the willow tree while gazing across the bay was a treat. Steve and Lorraine are wonderful hosts, close by and willing to share ideas about what to do to best experience the area and help in any way to make the most of your stay. I definitely recommend!

Skamokawa Paradise
Nestled close to the bay, this is a beautiful setting. Room is designed with a relaxed feeling. Whatever your worried about seems to melt away here. Bed is comfortable, room was spacious, bathroom comfortable, and a great small coffee bar kitchen for convenience. Worth the stay, don't hesitate.

Illinois Travelers
Staying at the Abode was a great alternative to staying at a hotel or motel. We appreciated the light, openness, functionality, and cleanliness of the space, and the view from the 'breakfast bar" was mesmerizing. If the weather had been warmer, we would have taken advantage of a walk along the beach. Karen loved the little handheld vacuum you supplied, and I now have a Lenovo clock like the one in the Abode. We also enjoyed getting to meet with you, and you're at the top of our list for next year's visit.
It was delightful to have you two stay for the week. Steve and I are so happy we'll be seeing you again on your next visit to this beautiful area.

Lovely Abode - Lovely views!
We loved our stay in The Abode. The accommodations were very comfortable and the perfect size for the two of us. We enjoyed easy beach access and beautiful views of the river and slough from the room. The weekend is now a great memory thanks to our wonderful hosts, Lorraine and Steve. See you again soon!

About host
Hearing people's life stories is fun for me. I often do this while on a walk with someone, which is a favorite activity of mine.
My goal as a designer has been to create spaces that make bodies comfortable and eyes happy. I'm in the process of working less in my interior design capacity and more in hosting rentals but the same theory applies. Hopefully, I accomplish my goal as you enjoy your stay with us!
